Pleiku Hotels
Pleiku is a small town situated in central Vietnam and is the capital of the Gia Lai Province. It was a strategic base during the Vietnam War. There are two main ethnic groups in Pleiku and they are Jarai also known as the Montagnards or Degar and Bahnar. The town of Pleiku is well connected due to its location at the junction of different highways that connect to Kontum and Stœng Trêng in Cambodia. It is more of an off beat tourist destination although it is a great mountain retreat and attracts adventure lovers from all across the world.
It is a clean town with an American Military base from the 1960’s and also has a US Special Forces base at Plei Me. The region surrounding Pleiku is covered with dense forests and supports different wildlife populations although much of the wildlife has been poached and killed. The most popular places in Pleiku is the Gia Lai forest where you can get a glimpse of the beautiful Yali waterfalls and the 40 m high Jrai Li waterfalls.
You can reach Pleiku by air from Danang and Saigon although buses and car rentals are also available. Pleiku is situated 550km north of Saigon and will take 15hours by road.
