Hue Hotels
Hue in Vietnam is a well known tourist destination because of the intricate architecture and the monuments. Situated by the banks of the River Sông Huong also known as the Huong River, Hue is also a few miles away from the South China Sea. 540 km away from Hanoi, Hue was known as Saigon. Most of the pagodas, temples and historical monuments are situated on the northern side of the River Huong. These historical monuments have been declared by UNESCO as World Culture Heritage sites in 1993. The business area and residential area is situated in the south side.
One of the most important historical structures is the Citadel. The Citadel was built using geomancy and was designed around the various natural elements near the Perfume River. The Citadel faces the Mount Ngu Binh or Royal Screen Mount on the South-East; the sentinels of the Citadel are two islets, which lie on the Perfume river. The islets are called the Huu Bach Ho (right white tiger) and Ta Thanh Long (left green dragon). The Citadel was built between 1805 and 1832 and could accommodate around 400 cannons.
Another great historical monument is the Dien Thai Hoa or the palace of supreme harmony. The Dien Thai Hoa highlights the thrones of 13 Nguyen Dynasty emperors and it was built around 1805. All the festivals from the coronation ceremony to the emperor’s marriage took place in San Dai Trieu or the esplanade of great salutation. The Ngo Mon monument was constructed in 1833 by Emperor Minh Mang and is the gateway to the Imperial Palace as well as the observation point from where the Emperor could see his troops.
