Ho Chi Minh City Hotels
The largest city in Vietnam is the Ho Chi Minh City and it is situated near the Mekong Delta. The Khmer Krom minority called it the Prey Nokor and it was also considered to be the main port. It became a part of Vietnam in the 17th Century. The city center on the banks of the River Saigon is around 60 km away from South China Sea.
Although the weather in Ho Chi Minh City is dry and pleasant anytime of the year but the best time is from December to April as there is less humidity. There is a major festival that takes place around the end of January or early February and it’s called the Tet Festival. The ancient Ho Chi Minh City has many attractions and one of them is the Dam Sen Park. The Dam Sen Park is basically a recreational area for children and highlights the many giant animals that have been created from CD’s and coconut shells. The gardens in the park are well maintained and consist of small ponds and pagodas. Apart from this children can enjoy a roller coaster ride and the ice-block wonderland. The park is open everyday from 9:00am to 9:00pm.
Another popular landmark is the Jade Emperor Pagoda, which was built by a Cantonese congregation in 1909. IT is a beautiful Chinese temple and quite popular among locals and tourists. The temple consists of statues of many Taoists, Buddhists, heroes and other Chinese characters. The Pagoda is open everyday from 7:30am to 6:00pm. Some of the other places include the War Remnants Museum, Saigon Central Mosque, Reunification Palace, and Quan Am Pagoda.
