Con Dao Island Hotels
The Con Dao Island is situated 230 km from the Ho Chi Minh City. There was a time when the Island was being used to keep prisoners who led the revolution against the French but now it is a popular tourist destination. The Con Dao Island is an archipelago of 14 islets and quite a few white powder beaches, aquamarine water, fresh air and dense tropical forests.
The Con Dao Island prison was built in 1861 and was home to 22,000 prisoners. Now there is a historical tour organized around the prison that includes all the details about the revolution that took place and how the prisoners gave their life for independence. Another great place to visit is the 20,000 hectare nature reserve and national park. The Con Dao National Park consists of hundreds of eco system on land and in the ocean. It is home to 13,000 sea fishes and animals and is an egg laying area for the Vietnamese sea turtles. Other animals include the dugong or the Vietnamese sea cow.
The best time to visit the Con Dao Island is from March to June when the sea is calmer and the weather is pleasant. Some of the best beaches on Con Dao Island include Hang Duong, Dam Trau, and Phi Yen. Con Dao also offers a lot of eco tours like Dolphin watching and sea diving to the reefs. Some of the other activities include swimming, racing boats and sea kayaking. It is a paradise for humans as well as animals.
